CBD vs THC
Will CBD get me High??
The short answer to the question ‘will CBD get me high?’ is no. CBD is non-intoxicating and will not get you high. The hemp plants have over one hundred types of compounds in them. One of these is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which is the compound that causes the high associated with cannabis. CBD king products are made with cannabidiol from hemp plants that meet the legal qualifications for industrial hemp. One qualification is that the plant contains less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. This minimal amount is already not enough to cause a high, hence the legality of industrial hemp.
CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
In the past few years CBD has become one of the most buzzed-about topics in the natural wellness space because it may support a sense of peace and well-being in humans. Don’t worry, it’s not intoxicating, so you can add CBD to your everyday routine without experiencing a high.
What Does CBD Do?
CBD works with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to help regulate things like sleep, stress response, pain response, immune system response and more. Discovered in the 90s, science is actively exploring how the ECS works to keep your body in balance. Research is just starting to catch up with the experience many people have — CBD supports feelings of calm, a better night’s rest, relief of muscle pain after exercise and overall wellness.
We all have a built-in
Endocannabinoid System that works to keep our bodies in balance. CBD supports the cannabinoid receptors throughout the body.
CB1 Receptors
are located primarily in the
brain and nervous system. They help regulate everything from
stress response, sleep, pain response and mood.
CB2 Receptors
are located primarily in the
gut and immune system.
They help regulate your
body’s response to inflammation
and pathogens.
CBD Can Help
Find Your Balance
Homeostasis is a biological balance in your body’s natural rhythms. Sometimes it’s described as equilibrium in your system. Homeostasis has a big impact on your overall well-being. New research is always emerging exploring the link between homeostasis, and physical, mental, or even emotional health. People take CBD because they want to support their ECS, and all the work it does to keep your body in homeostasis.
Your body actually makes its own cannabinoids. These are called endocannabinoids. If you’ve ever experienced a runner’s high, or the thrill of singing along to your favorite song, you’ve felt the work of endocannabinoids. When plants make this type of compound, they’re called phytocannabinoids. CBD is one of over a hundred types of phytocannabinoids found in hemp plants, and taking CBD is an easy way to support your body’s own production of endocannabinoids.
